I've faced it, it's true, I have an addiction. In fact, there was a slight (though all in fun) intervention that took place last night--and then my addiction was feed by the friends who said they were there to help me.Yes, my friends, I am addicted to Twilight. Sad, but true, but I cannot seem to get away from it. I google it (I get google alerts), I follow people on Twitter, I seem to be a plethora of Twilight knowledge. But this is all new. Yes, I have had obsessions in the past, but nothing like this, not even close. Here is the break down as to how this became the need it is for me today:
Back in January, I went with my friends, Michelle and her daughter, Mallory to see "Bride Wars" (not super great BTW). On our way out Mal (a HUGE Twilight fan) noticed that Twilight was starting across the hall....she grabbed Michelle and I and pulled us into the movie. Not only was this the first time that I ever snuck into a movie--which caused a bit of anxiousness, but it is the moment that started it all. You see, I really had no desire to see the film or read the books--in fact I had never heard of it, other than the fact that it was filmed here in the area.
Since it was very late, I went out the next day and purchased the first book in the Twilight Saga, which then completely occupied all the free time that I had. By the next day I was on Amazon ordering the other 3 books, crossing my fingers that they arrived before I finished the first book. I completed "twilight" in about 4 days, reading after work, and staying up way too late--it was a Thursday. The other books were not to arrive until Saturday....what was I going to do, at this point, I was bitten...I seriously contemplated going and buying book two, so that I could start reading it! But I lucked out, when I got home from work Friday, a box was sitting on my porch! I squealed in excitement (I believe Treasure heard this, as I was on the phone with her). I ended up going out that evening, so I did not start "New Moon" until I woke up Saturday morning. I spent the entire day reading, I couldn't stop, but I had to, I was meeting Michelle and Mallory to see the movie, again...I wanted to see it after reading the book. I finished the book by 12am. The next day I started "Eclipse," again, reading all day and completed it by 9pm, and then started reading "Breaking Dawn," which was completed by Wednesday evening.
So I had completed the books....and I wanted more, more, and more! I went to Stephenie Meyer's website and read the first 12 chapters of "Midnight Sun," and read all the outtakes and extras that she has posted (VERY interesting BTW). I have even re-read "Twilight," switching between it and "Midnight Sun" (one is from Bella's perspective and the other from Edward's--same story). The chapters have the same names when both characters are in the scene. That was the best way to read it, and I really hope that Miss Meyer decides to complete "Midnight Sun." Since completing the series, I have seen the movie 3 more times (one was sneaking in again, after seeing "He's Just Not That into You," (again not that great) with Kathryn--this addiction has caused me to become a malicious and sneaky person, it's horrid!).
I wasn't planning on going to a DVD release party--didn't want to be around all the screaming tweens, and I had a birthday party to go to. Yet, then things changed. I got wind of a blood drive, right by my house, that if you gave blood, you would receive a Twilight gift. I figured, win, win, right? So off I went Friday to give blood (I ended up having too low of an iron count, so I couldn't). The gift was minimal, except....I received a VIP pass to the NW cast and crew DVD release party! I talked them into allowing me to bring Mallory. So my evening plans changed!
Mal and I headed down to the party, and hung out with others who had given blood that day. Then the cast arrived (none of the main characters), since we were at the front of the line, we were able to get pictures taken with Solomon Trimble and Krys Hyatt (Jacob Black's friends in the movie), the waitress from the cafe, and 2 of the frat boys that harass Bella....but the best I think was getting a pic with Logan--Robert Pattinson's stand in. In the pictures he looks so similar, that I could probably lie and say I met RP, but though I have become a sneaker, I am not a liar.
Anyway, Mal wanted to ask Krys to her prom, but she was too nervous, so I did for her. He was so sweet, and actually gave us his phone number--his real phone number!!! So she's gonna try :) It was a very exciting evening!
Anyway, so now, the movie has come out on DVD....though I don't have a copy, yet--seriously, I don't! I pre-ordered a copy from Borders...okay, and Target. I couldn't decide between the two....they both had extras that others do not. And well, neither have arrived yet. So I await patiently.
At my "intervention" last night I was able to see the extras and watch the movie...so I got my fix. Since I am on Spring Break, once the movie shows, I will be watching....I know I have a problem, but it's fun. There is more to my obsession....especially when it comes to Twitter, but those theories are for another blog.
