My Nephew!

Yesterday morning, I was hoping to sleep in a bit, since I was up late the night before chatting with my Aussie friend...well there was another plan for me!

At about 6:30a, my mom called me and told me that my nephew was on the way, that Lauren was already dilated to 6.5, and things seemed to be moving quickly. Now keep in mind, this little guy wasn't due for two more weeks, in fact, the doctor had told them only days before that it would be another 2 weeks or so, so this was not expected.

I jumped out of bed, and found myself running around like a crazy person. Since she was seemingly progressing quickly, I wanted to get there fast, but I also needed to get packed for a wedding that I was set to attend that afternoon in Salem. Figured the little guy would be here in the early afternoon, and I could make it down to make it at least to the reception. Well...I was wrong!

Here are the updates that I sent to family and friends through text and Facebook, as well as some of the replies--kinda gives the run down of the day:

6:36a- Just got the call....Nephew is on the way!!!!! :D
Angela S.- tell your bro. congrats!
Carolina D.- is this your first??? congrat auntie!! they are SOOOO much fun!
Heather B.- Woohoo you're going to be an auntie! OMG, so exciting!!! Have fun! Good luck! Congrats! Drive like the wind :)
Jenn B.-Congratulations Auntie!
Adriane B.-Yah! Yah! He will have a bday close to Abie. Keep me posted! I am thinking of you guys! Love you.

9:29a- And now the waiting begins...no word on how far along she is

11:04a- Still not too much to report. She's at 6.5 inches and water has not broken yet. Mama and papa are hanging in there...hopefully peanut will arrive soon! :)

11:28a- In my attempt to leave the house quickly, I didn't grab a book...dang! Could be hours until peanut arrives! Thank god for the ipod.

12:02p- Update-Lauren is at 8 and seems to be progressing quickly...



12:55p- OMG freakin fire alarm is going off in the hospital...with a code red! (this apparently happens all the time and happened another few times through the day--annoying)

2:11p- Got to see Cam! Lauren is hanging at about 8.5. Both are tired but strong. :)

3:31p- Update- Lauren is at 9.5 and almost ready to go! They are saying in another couple hours, peanut will be joining us! :)

Adriane B.-Yay! How is she handling the pain? (then told she's not taking meds) Geez. She is being a wonder woman!! Sounds like Cam is an awesome labor partner. I am not surprised.

3:57p- Getting anxious and excited...the little man needs to come soon! I wanna meet him! :)

Adriane B.-Yeah, I bet! It could still be a few more hours. The pushing can be long. Though I hope not for her sake.

7:40p- Still waiting...last heard is that she's working hard, and Peanut should be ready for us to meet him in a little over an hour! Can't contain the excitement!!

9:35p- Ok, nurses that won't say much, say they won't let her push more than 3 hours, then a decision needs to be made...It's been about 3 hours! Hope he comes now!
Adriane B.-Yesh, that's what I was thinking....As long as mama and baby are safe that's all that matters....You are all in my prayers. Love you.

1:48a-Update: Mama and Papa are doing well. Lauren worked so hard and Cameron was right by her side! After well over 24 hours of labor, "Peanut" (name still TBA), made his appearance, he is a healthy big baby boy!! The new family is happy and exhausted! I will hopefully get more pics of the three of them soon! Loves to all that sent their good wishes.

12:55p- UPDATE: "Peanut" (as he has been called up until now) has a name! Cayden William Carroll :)

Needless to say, I missed the wedding....but I got to meet my little brother's first son! I am an Auntie!!!
